There is really no such dog. Try looking a a shelter you may find a dog that is housebroken, but Training and owning a dog is a huge responsibility and they require training.
References :
Well if you don't want a purebred, then we can't tell you what kind of dog to get. Just go to your local shelter and find a dog there. (Some are already house trained!)
References :
Do your research. Find a local training class. Research your breeder. This is all before you get a dog. Rescue is great, but remember...these dogs could also be puppy mill dogs. The "free" rescue dog was the most expensive dog I ever owned after figuring all the vet bills over his life time.

No particular breed is really any easier to train than the next, no matter what dog you decide on, it's going to take work and patience.

If you're looking for a dog that's already house trained, try looking in a shelter. Some people have negative opinions about them, but you can find truly wonderful dogs that are in desperate need of loving homes. The adoption fees are nothing like what you would pay for a purebred dog from a breeder, and most will spay/neuter the dog for free.
References :
Beagles and German Shepherds are good dogs for a family to have that aren't major chewers.

You could also try one of your local shelters, ask a Vet in your area of the best place to get a puppy that is fostered so you know what you're getting. The other thing is to know that this puppy will also be good with children.

The 2 breeds mentioned above will be from my own experience.
References :
Training is a life-long project for any dog, even "good" dogs.

Contact your local rescue and they can help match a dog to your family's lifestyle.
References :
In my experience as a breeder Labs are wonderful at house training, I have 5 and have never had any problems with them going in my home. so try a lab mix! if your looking for a mix then try the animal shelter, most of them potty or crate train the dogs before they put them up for adoption.
References :
If you make a trip to your local shelter, you'll probably find lots of dogs that have gone through the puppy stage, won't chew things, and are house broken. Check out http://www.petfinder.com for dogs in your area.
