<< Can someone help me with puppy potty training?  Potty training a puppy to use the restroom outside? >>

I am a student so there are just 2 days a week when I am gone all day. My worry is that the work I do to potty train her on the other days will be undone on the days I leave her alone (just got her).
Anyone have advice on potty training when you have to work/go to school?
Thanks
She’s about 2 months old and is a French Mastiff (if that helps).

Two words. Crate training.

I crate trained my dog and she grew up to looooove her crate! it got to the point where i didn’t need to use it anymore but she would still go in there and hang out because it was her "safe place". Contrary to some people’s beliefs it is NOT mean and cruel. Make sure you get the right size for your dog (you may have to get larger ones as she gets bigger) and your local pet store can help you find the perfect one. I would put my dog in the crate at night when I coudn’t monitor her potty breaks and when I went to work. Dogs will not go where they sleep and so she will not empty her bladder (or worse) in her crate. The length of time she can be left in there depends on her age so that is something else you would need to ask your vet or pet store employee. It will also help train her to hold her bladder so that she does not need to be taken out every hour. Just make sure the first thing you do when you get home is take her outside to pee! Good luck!

depending on age, perhaps crate her during the day. But the work you do wont be undone. they will try to hold it as long as they can. try putting her out to go before you leave and as soon as you get home. watch what she can eat and drink when your gone to help promote holding ability.

Keep her in a really small cage, one that is big enough for her to lay down in and drink.
Before you leave take her out, when you get home, take her out.

DO NOT piddle pad train your dog as it is extremely hard to unteach them this later on.

Actually, the best way to train a pup is when you’re not home! My older dog learned because I worked and had to crate him.

I can’t seem to train our newest puppy because I no longer work and he’s not in a crate.

Crating him will concrete your potty training, not lessen it.

They can hold it longer than you think.

    Good Luck!

When I house broke my dog and whether I was at home or not, I did the same thing. I kept the puppy in an area that I could clean up easily (no carpet). When a mistake was made, whether it be #1 or #2, I would take the pup over to the offense and hold it’s head near to the offense, not putting it’s nose in it directly. I would hold it there until the pup started to squirm to get back from the offense. Of course during this process reprimand the dog using your stern voice. After this I would walk the pup over to the door, take it’s paw and show it how to scratch at the door, while making a dog crying noise at the same time. At this point I would put the pup out side or walk it, whatever the case may be.

Males are suppose to be harder to house breaks, but he learned very rapidly. I never saw the logic in paper training.

    Hope this helps!
