Potty training puppies?

I have two 7 week old puppies (Got them at 6 weeks old). They’re both half chi./half Jack Russel terrier. There’s a male and a female.
The question I have is, the boy keeps peeing RIGHT NEXT to the puppy pad I have in my room. I have two of the pads in my room. I’ve even watched him do it and tell him several times no.
Well, right after they wake up, I take them both outside. the female pees and poops. And then they start playing together, him not going to the bathroom. We’ve tried holding her, so she wouldn’t distract him, but then he wouldn’t do anything. I would pick him up, but him way out into the back yard, in the grass, with me standing next to him, but he would run away, going back to the concrete.
Well, we would stay out there for 20 minutes, come back inside and he immediately goes to a random spot and pees and poops.
How can I make him stop?
I have 2-10 wks old pups and I was having the same issue. This info helped.

Stop it with the pee pads. He thinks it’s okay for him to pee in the house. Take him outside by himself. Stay outside until he goes potty. Do this every two hours. Eventually he’ll get the hint and start jumping at the door. I suggest putting him in a crate at night for a couple months so he doesn’t go potty in the house and he learns to hold it during the night and go in the morning. Just make sure you bring him out right before bed and first thing in the morning. Good luck!
Oh and if you take him out and have sat there for 20 minutes and he’s done nothing, come inside, put him in the crate for 20 minutes and then take him outside again. That way he won’t go potty inside.

when we were potty training my dog i read somewhere that when you take a puppy outside it gets really excited, so it wants to stay out there for as long as it can. so when you have it go to the bathroom adn come right in, it associates goign ot thebathroom as being the reason why it has to go back inside. so maybe let the puppies play for awhile outside (im ntosure ify ou ahve a fence or not so it might be too hard for you to do this) so your dog understands that goign to the bathroom outside is a good thing and that he can be rewarded. maybe also keep some treats on hand so when he does go outside you can give him one. basically, show him that going to the bathroom outside is a good thing so praise him and show him lots of love

I have a 13 week old and I know how you feel!! But just keep doing what you are doing and he will get it is time escpecially if he can follow the females lead. Just take him out to wee/poop and if he does it inside growl at him and pick him up and take him to where you want him to go. It does take a while for them to get the hang of but as they say it is faster than a human child to learn potty training so count yourself lucky!! Also I threatened mine by saying to him if he wees inside again he is going back to where he came from and lo and behold he has not done it since hahahahahaha

it is the first stage when u should start training ur dog whenever he does it in the house u scold him and beat him slightly and immediately take himm to a place where there is mud do this at least 2 weks and u will see the difrence best of luk with ur dogs

sounds as though you are doing everything right…and normally it is the female that is spiteful like that…i hate those pee pee pads…i think they ruin dogs….they are trained from day one to use them…especially if the mother too used them…they learn from watching…i guess i would start by getting rid of the pee pee pads…and crate train…i hated doing it…my dog was the same way…and it worked for me…i kept her in the crate only when i slept at night or left her alone in the house…she was a very spitefull puppy….and when i let her out of the crate she would instantly pee on the carpet…so i invested in a carpet cleaner…still much cheaper in the long run then those pads…but i would spank her behind and tell her no and put her outside…and when we finally started making it to the door in the morning w/o peeing….she still wouldn’t go…she was holding it…but i learned w/ her is that she wont just go outside and go…but when walked she went constantly….so i had to walk w/ her and distances…she needed to smell…to find other scents to mark her own…she is lab/hound mix…but males tend to be fussy as well…especially w/ marking territory….i would start actually walking the dog instead of just putting outside…and every time he does pee outside good boy him to death…get all excited and give a treat…also i seen this thing on oprah the other day about puppy mills…and learned that dogs no matter how old are afraid of new surroundings…homes to start….but if they have never been on grass before it is new to them and they don’t have trust…so that may take time depending on what kind of lifestyle the pup had before you gave it a home…..hope this helps….good luck w/ new babies

I would take them out as often as I can and let them learn that outside is where they need to pee. Now clean that up really well because if you don’t they will smell that and keep peeing in the same spot.

you got some pretty good answes. Just a couple of things..
A puppy that young Should not be allowed to play on the floor. You should crate him when you can not hold him or pay absolute attention to him. A small crate. If it has too much room, they will just go to one side and lay down. Carteing is not cruel or mean. it greatly helps them get potty trained, therefore getting run of the house faster.
Puppies do learn to not potty so they can stay outside, nut you need to teach them that they need to potty and then they get to play. Bring your boy out first. Wait, no matter how long it takes for him to go potty. bring hotdogs, while he is going potty praise him (not too much or he will stop, just say something in a low voice like good boy, potty good boy), When he is done give him his treat immediately and then bring out the girl. If he will not allow her to potty, bring her out first and then put her back up for a minute, while he is going.
Also mark his potty spot with a rock so you know where it actually smells like his potty. Next time he potties in the house say in a loud stern voice NO and abrubtly take hime to the marked potty rock where he will get praises and cuddles. Then take hime back inside and show him his bad spot again, and take him back to his good spot, do this as many times as you can. It really helps doing it alot EACH TIME instead of just once occasionally.
Also, Alot of dogs and puppies do not like puppy pads because it wets their paws. They are VERY bad for potty training dogs. Here go in the house, NO don’t go in the house…does it really make sense. They will need to go potty about every two hours, IMMEDIATLY AFTER NAPS AND FOOD/WATER. And immediatly everytime you bring them out of their confinement/crate, even if they just went outside to potty. We call them Poopees.
