<< What isn't working with my puppies potty training?  16 week labrador puppy training and tricks >>

Is it better to put them in a crate that is only big enough for them to sleep in at bed time, or is it better to put them in a crate with a sleeping area & a pee pad area? what do you find is more effective? this is only for during the night when it’s bed time!

crate big enough to sleep. dogs dont like to urintate where they sleep but you’ll have to wake up if he cries & take him out to go potty. but it shouldnt take more then a few weeks for him to be potty trained

i have a dog, hes 2 and we had to train him, First take him out regularly every 3 hours at least. might seem kinda extreme but thats how your supposed to do it, when your taking him out Whenever he poops or pees, Always congratulate him, pet him, rub his belly talk to him like he’s just done something spectacular, and at night crate him, they never poop where they sleep unless they havta go Really bad, so take him out before bed, after he starts showing improvement, (after a few weeks or so) start taking him out every 5 hours then after a few more weeks every 7, you get the picture.

The most affective toilet training I have ever used was setting my alarm for every 1.5hrs and taking her out. My hubby and I would take turns at night but set the clock for ever 2 hrs instead. I made sure I took her out after she ate, woke up and played. It took her a week before she would sit on the door mat and whine.

The worst thing I have ever done was use those stupid puppy pads. We did that with our older dog and it took him a very long time to be fully toilet trained. The breeder of our new dog said it was because he was getting confused. I think it took him around 6 months to get to the stage it took our new pup a week.
