With my 10 week old puppy it took about two weeks to potty train him. We would feed him and about twenty minutes after eating we would take him outside. But as they get older they learn to hold it more and more. We would make sure that we took him out every thirty minutes but that was when he was 8 weeks old. Now we take him out about every hour. If he makes a mistake in the house we say NO! (but don't hit) and take him outside to show him where he needs to go. As they start learning to go outside, whenever they go outside praise them and give them a treat. Good luck
References :
Own a puppy that is currently potty training

Train your puppy to go on a piece of newspaper outside. Eventually you can take the paper away and the dog will know to be outside when it needs to relieves itself.
References :
Have you thought about using a bell? I have not tried it myself but I have heard alot of good thoughts about it. I would do a search for bell training for dogs. I don't know if your using a crate but that is the one thing that worked for us. I agree with taking the puppy out after she eats and every hour after that. She will catch on. Good luck.
References :
Surely you can figure this one out.... after you feed it, take it out. And take it out every hour, and praise it when it goes. How old are you. anyway???
