Take him to the door and tell him out. He will learn to tell you in his own way. Just watch for the sign. It will take some time but be patient. I think it is easier to house break a larger dog. You can try training pads but I never had much luck with them. It depends on the dog. Be sure to reward him when he does right. Even attention works. All you have to do is be firm with him and reward him when he does what you like. Sometimes treats will work too. Eventually, he'll think, Oh they want me to do that. I know how to do that.
