<< I have heard and read some articles on litter box training for puppies to get them started potty training.?  Potty Training puppies? >>

me and my girlfreind found these stray puppies, and we’re trying to potty train them, and it doesn’t seem to work! i take them outside for atleast 15 minutes at a time, and they will do their business, and as soon as they come in they will shit/piss all over the place even though they already did it! and i fucking lose control! i feel bad afterwords that i scream at the top of my lungs at them, and spank them! i tell them they are good, and give them treats when they do it outside (ans pet them) do they like to be punished? also how can i keep my temper down?

take them outside often and wait for them to go and if they do praise them. If you catch them going in the house yell and try to stop them (pick them up without getting pissed on) and put them outside to finish.

Now you know why they were stray..the previous owner couldn’t train em either. Call the vet and have em put them to sleep.

You know you need to take those dogs to the pound so that they can be adopted by someone that wont hit them. Hitting a dog is not training them and yes you are out of control. Get the dogs a good home and do them a favor.

PS get a vasectomy now because babys mess in their diapers and you will have to deal with that and it may upset you. Dont have any kids.

Please dont spank a puppy. depending on age, try paper training first. Visit your local pet store , theres all kink of stuff for potty training and its cheaper than new carpet

How old are the puppies? They are like babies and need to be a few months old before they fully start to understand. Then you have to train yourself to take them out faithfully every hour or so. It takes time and patience just like with a child. You have a computer so type in puppy training and you will get all kinds of good info.

First of all, and Im not saying this because Im some hardcore animal activist or something, but dont hit the puppies. Puppies in their developmental stage can develop severe hip and joint problems, even with the light amounts of pressure caused by the "spanking."

Second, The paper trick works. Spread newspaper out on the floor, and when the puppies go on the paper, let them smell the paper, then lead them outside and place the paper on the grass and then praise the puppies.

By yelling at them, then giving them treats, the puppies become confused. You also have to remember that dogs are living in the moment and do not have the same types of memories as we do. Its fine to get aggrivated with them, but remember that you took on this responsibility and dogs are extremely loyal and great guardians.

Lastly, dogs will continue to use the bathroom indoors if the smell of the remains on the floors or carpets. There are several products at petstores which eliminates odors on floors, and do not leave any odor indoors. This way when the dogs only smell the scents outside, then they will continue to go outside only, but remember, praise outdoors, scold indoors (pennies in a coffee can scare them).

Please stop hitting them, they are like human babies and they don’t know any better yet. Eventually they will get it but for now please be calm with them. When they do their business in the house tell them "NO" in a firm voice(don’t yell) and gently stick their nose in it. Make sure they see you telling them no and they see you are a tad upset and then take them outside to get them to realize that they need to do their business out there and only there. What kind of puppies are they? and how far from California do you live? I will be happy to take them off your hands…I am currently looking for a puppy.

Buy a cage for inside use and put them in it only take them out to do their duty. Dogs like people usually don’t pee where they sleep. They also need you to be consistent. Take them out at about the same time. Don’t give them an endless supply of food and water. What goes in will need to come out. Also like babies puppies need to be mature enough to grasp what is expected of them they might be to young to be trained. You might be to busy to have three puppies. If you find yourself abusing them it might be kinder to give them to some one who has more time and patience. Also if they pee on the carpet pour salt on it right away it absorbs it and helps with the smell.

First of all you have to remember that they are puppies they are still learning. This is what I did with my puppy and it worked. I took her outside every 2 hours even if she needed to go or not. If she went out side I praised her, gave her a treat. I also have a cage that sits in our living room, when she is bad or goes potty in the house I tell her to go to her cage, or I put her in there, then she knows she has been bad. Both you and your girlfriend have to be on the same page. If one of you is scalding the puppies and the other is praising them you are confusing them and they don’t know what is right or wrong. When one is scolding them the other one has to stay back. Send them to the cage. Whomever is the one scolding them you have to tell you puppy now it’s okay to play. (Make sure you have a place for them to go if you are scolding them if you don’t have a cage). To potty train a puppy does not take a couple of days or weeks it takes time and it is up to the puppy and how consistant you are with them. It took my puppy 6 months. Each month she got better.
As for your temper think of them as a kid and how you would handle him or her. Remove yourself from the area take a deep breath get yourself together and go back into the room ask them what did they do and put them outside or in the cage. ( I have a blanket and pillow in the cage so it is comfortable for my puppy) ( don’t make it to freindly or they will think it is a play space) . Just remember they are puppies and they are still learning and so are you. It is a consistant process that will keep everyone on track.
If you had other animals before in your house yoiu may want to have your rugs cleaned they may smell the other animals and are marking their teratory. You can buy rug cleaner from Walmart that is great it is in a red bottle by the Sweeper section. (Just for animal smells). Good Luck and enjoy your puppies!!!

    1. dogs don’t pee/poop where they have to sleep. so get a crate and leave them in it unless you are playing with or feeding them.

    2. pups need to sleep. as soon as they wake take them outside. be sure they are done. this is also a good time to pick a corner in your yard and train them to go there. repetition and persistance are important here

    3. after they eat, take them outside.

Do you have any idea how old they are? They say every month of age is equal to the amount of time they can hold their bladder. so if they are (8 weeks) or two months old, then they should be able to go for 2 hours between pee breaks.

I know it is hard but don’t loose it. You will end up with very skiddish dogs who will be scared of you.

kennel train your dogs, after you take them outside bring them in and put them in the kennel. Do this until they are properly potty trained. They can’t stay in the kennel for 24/7 so you will need to take them on long walks so they can potty, and get plenty of exercise.

we taught our snoopy to pee outside by taking her out and giving her a little nudge on the butt. we then said…go to the toilet. we would stay out til she peed. when she did we made a BIG deal of it with hugs, cuddles, scrathces and sometimes food…eventually they get into routine

If you’re getting a temper over a darn puppy you need anger management! First off, having a pet is a HUGE responsibility and it seems to me as if you’re definitely NOT ready to take care of a puppy. You need to stop spanking the puppy and spank your *mmm mmm* clears throat.

Also, patience does it. My dog is potty trained…Speak to the dog as if she/he were a human. Comunication is the best solution… and screaming at the poor dogs will only make situations worst because they’re not learning they’ll only be AFRAID to do anything around you so CALM YOUR UGLY TEMPER!

P.S. Take all your puppies (including every other pet you have) and bring them to a shelter where they will be loved and not hurt.

Put them in a kennel until it is time to go out to the bathroom. As soon as you take them out of the kennel take them outside and they will eventually understand that they are to go outside only. The kennel had to be small enough that they dont have the opportunity to pee in it. Also if it’s a male have it fixed that made all the difference in the training of our pug then they will stop marking their territory.
    hope this helps
    Good Luck
