<< Puppy House Training - Puppy Only Goes Outside But How Long Before She Lets Us Know?  How do I start house training a puppy? >>

hey giys i have a new puppy about 12 weeks old, its a pug, and im having a hard hard hard time house breaking it… i take it out alot, but it wont go to the bathroom outside, it just runs around and stays by my feet… so i give him about 10 min outside then i come in… then normally he is in for all of 2 min and he uses the bathroom in the house… i dont get it… help me out here what am i doing wrong?

you are not giving him enough time. Next time he goes inside pick it up and take it outside and then when you take him out take him to that spot and let him smell ! Then give him time. When it is potty time…make sure you don’t play with him and don’t talk to him except to say …go potty or something you want so he knows what that word is. this is potty time..not play time or time to talk. It is time to do business. When you play outside let him know that is play time. Dogs are very smart….you just have to be consistent and it will take time!

I have one dog that takes FOREVER to go….she can be out there for half hour and she will walk around and back and forth and back and forth and drives me nuts. She also refuses to go out in the rain. God forbid her feet get wet. I have to carry her out and set her in the grass !

You have to be consistent in your training or dogs get confused. You have to wait it out and then really praise him and pet him and tell him he is a good dog. ALWAYS take him to the same spot….so he can smell where he was and know what he is supposed to do.

Take him out every hour until he goes. Until then crate him or keep him on leash beside you constantly until he is goes outside a couple times. Then that spot will have his smell and if you use the same phrase….he will understand.

I take mine out and say…go potty. they know not to play…

pugs are hard to potty train if you have to leave him outside by himself if you can for thirty minutes, he will go eventually then praise him and treat him

teach him how to use the toilette. =)

or just wait and wait and wait and wait until he goes outside and then reward him like crazy when he does. maybe like after he eats take him outside and play with him until he goes, and then give him a treat and act like seeing him poop is the most spectacular thing you have ever seen in your entire life.

having a puppy can be stressful to say the least. take a deep breath.
